The Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI) is one of Imperial College London’s seven global institutes. The Institute aims to develop cutting edge solutions to the challenges faced by healthcare systems and to elicit transformational improvement in the quality and equity of patient care and population health and wellbeing.
IGHI also runs several post-graduate educational programmes including Masters in Patient Safety , Health Policy , Digital Health Leadership and Healthcare and Design . These part-time degrees enable health sector professionals, such as government officials, clinicians, NHS managers and employees of health industry and consulting companies, to learn important aspects of digital health leadership, patient safety, health policy and design in healthcare.
The Finance and Operations Officer (Education) will oversee all IGHI Postgraduate programmes, primarily supporting financial and operational management processes for the NHS Digital Academy (NHSDA) which delivers health informatics training that is commissioned and endorsed by the NHS, working collaboratively with academic, technical and professional staff in the delivery of high-quality courses for our students.
You will also maintain a portfolio of research, and non-research grants and projects, providing financial, resource and contract management oversight, ensuring programmes are managed effectively and liaison with project stakeholders to track project progress and objectives.
Working closely with the IGHI Operations and Education teams, you will suggest and develop systems and process improvements to build an efficient and effective financial and project management function. You will work with IGHI Education and theme leads to ensure finance and operations principles are embedded through communication of best practice and guidance.
Duties and responsibilities
Duties include award management of programmes and grants, managing complex budgets (including those over £1m) across varied programmes or activity workstreams. You will oversee budgets including for a range of programmes and projects, and make suggestions about resource allocations based on funder and College policy and procedure. The role holder will lead on preparation of consultancy, collaborator and sub-contractor agreements and keep track of staff resource allocations highlighting gaps in funding and planning for longer term sustainability. You will ensure robust financial and operational systems are established to manage data, ensure efficiency and effectiveness, and be proactive to make suggestions about improving procedure.
You should have strong financial management capabilities and experience of managing multiple complex programmes or workstreams overseeing financial, contractual, and operational process. Key to the role are strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex information to a non-technical audience (in particular finances). The role should attract a confident self-starter with ability to contribute new ideas to deliver a more efficient and effective service. The ability to establish effective working relationships with a diverse range of people whilst being able to prioritise a high volume of work and work in an independent manner are also paramount.
This post is offered on a full time and fixed-term basis for 12 months.
Salary is offered atProfessional Services Level 3b ( Salary scales ).
