Job summary

Are you a highly motivated, pro-active legal IP licensing professional ideally with experience in university commercialisation? Our Science led Services team within the Enterprise Division is seeking a Licensing Counsel to support the expansion of the commercialisation activities of Imperial College. By providing legal advice and guidance to the Industrial Partnerships and Commercialisation Teams (“IPC Teams”) on intellectual property protection, licensing and company creation in the development, commercialisation, and market adoption of research technologies

Duties and responsibilities

The role will be working closely with the IPC Teams, drafting, reviewing, and assisting in the negotiation of various types of intellectual property licensing and related commercialisation agreements. The purpose is to achieve the best possible contractual terms and conditions particularly in respect of intellectual property and commercial provisions, warranties, indemnities, and other contract related issues for Imperial College.

Essential requirements

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have gained experience working within either commercial or non-commercial research institutions. A scientific or technical background would also be highly desirable. You must be well organised, able to work well independently and in a team and have a positive, can do approach. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with an interest in developing positive working relationships, the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely to a wide range of people. Attention to detail and a calm approach are also essential.
