Job summary

The Dyson School of Design Engineering is a young and dynamic department in the Faculty of Engineering at Imperial College London. We are looking to grow our finance team by appointing a Finance & HR Administrator, who will be assisting in the support of the School’s administration of finances, research grants and be responsible for HR related departmental tasks, such as staffing and recruitment in collaboration with the Central College HR teams.

You will support academic staff, acting as a conduit between the department, research services, the contracts management team, HR and Recruitment hubs. They will help managing research proposals, awarded grants, and resulting research staff contracts maintaining staff costings, forecasts and timesheets. The post holder will also support the Senior Research and Finance Manager in other aspects of financial administration and support the Professional Services team of the School to facilitate the smooth running of all administrative processes and policies.

Duties and responsibilities

You will support the management of financial data and accounting in the Dyson School of Design Engineering. In particular, you will be responsible in assisting the School to recruit and manage existing staff members, handling the HR related finances and accounting requirements and updating and maintaining departmental databases and trackers.

You will be the go-to person for HR policies and procedures and act as departmental representative linking to Central College HR and Recruitment teams, systems and operations.

Essential requirements

    • Demonstrable experience in the Higher Education or Research Institution sector in a similar or related role

 

    • Knowledge of financial management, accounting and control administration within an organisation

 

    • Strong IT skills (especially Microsoft Excel and databases, electronic finance systems (e.g. Oracle), and the other Microsoft office programmes)

 

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

Further information

The position is full-time and open-ended, with a salary of £33,997 – £38,360 per annum.
