We are seeking to appoint a permanent faculty member in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (Asst/Assoc Professor) level.

Duties and responsibilities

This post-holder will expand and extend the department’s research in the transformation of energy system to zero-carbon operation and to enhance our international reputation in this field. The post-holder will have research concentrated on innovation in control and operation of energy systems that uses data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence and distributed control to address the evolving system dynamics, increasing dimensionality and increasing coupling of energy system.

The post-holder will also enhance our teaching capability for both undergraduate and postgraduate students in electrical engineering.

The post is sponsored by grant funding from The Leverhulme Trust under the Leverhulme International Professorship scheme which has recruited a chair professor alongside this lectureship post. The funding proposal addressed “Essential Services for a 100% Renewables Transformation of the Global Power System”.

Essential requirements

Applicants are sought in the research area of control and operation of energy systems with very high penetration of variable renewable energy and inverter-based resources. Research addressing the evolving system dynamics, increasing dimensionality and increasing coupling between elements of the energy system using data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence and distributed control is of particular interest.
