Duties and responsibilities
We are looking to appoint a Senior Teaching Fellow to undertake Senior Tutor duties as well as contribute to high-level teaching within the department of Bioengineering.
As Senior Tutor, the successful candidate will have primary responsibility for pastoral care of undergraduates within the Department. This includes being responsible for the pastoral tutorial system. You will provide students with advice on study skills and contribute to teaching and assessment activities as required. You will oversee the teams and staff involved in pastoral care and teaching support and also act as a personal tutor.
As part of the successful candidate’s duties, they will also be expected to develop their own lecture materials based on current resources, and teach in a variety of ways including lectures, tutorials and coursework assessments. They will also be expected to write and mark their own examinations. They will have a role in student recruitment and admissions.
The post holder should hold a relevant honours degree (or equivalent) as well as a postgraduate qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant bioengineering discipline. A recognised teaching qualification and an ability to teach effectively at undergraduate and Master’s level is desirable.
