Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a service technician to join the core technical support team based in Sir Alexander Fleming Building, South Kensington Campus.

Duties and responsibilities

Working with Senior Laboratory Technician, and other members of the core technical team, the role holder will help deliver cross-faculty laboratory services to teaching and research laboratories throughout the building. The post holder will assist with:

  • The collection and processing of waste and glassware
  • Supporting research staff with autoclaving of laboratory consumables and media.
  • Assisting with Liquid Nitrogen and dry ice requirements.
  • Upkeep and maintenance of laboratory and autoclave facility areas.

Essential requirements

    • Two A-levels, or equivalent qualifications in relevant subjects


    • Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing


    • Ability to work individually and as part of a team


    • Good understanding of Microsoft Office software (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook)


    • Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage own time effectively.


  • Previous experience of working in a laboratory, particularly in a similar role, is desirable.
