In collaboration with the Student Services Manager, the Student Services Administrator (Admissions) is responsible for the organisation and running of the selection processes for undergraduate medicine and medical biosciences within the Faculty of Medicine. This includes overseeing the planning and delivery of all operational aspects of the selection process. You will be paramount to the smooth running of the School of Medicine’s Medical Biosciences admissions process. Working closely with the Student Services Manager and College Registry, you will also provide the administrative support for the delivery of systems for student number forecasting, departmental bi-annual admissions summaries, as well as ensuring HEFCE compliance and maintaining GRDP compliance for Admissions.
You will have lead organisation of the School of Medicine – Medical Biosciences Open Days which are highly prolific annual events with around 2,000 plus prospective candidates and their families visiting the School of Medicine. You will also be involved in other departmental events such as Offer Holder days, Webinar Recruitment sessions, School Outreach experiences and widening participation-focused experiences/ conferences.
Duties and responsibilities
As Student Services Administrator (Admissions) you will be joining a small team responsible for the organisation of the selection processes for undergraduate medical biosciences and medicine within the Faculty of Medicine. This includes overseeing the planning and delivery of all operational aspects of the selection process. You will also provide administrative support to ensure the smooth delivery of the admission cycle from application review, intake reporting and implementing our marketing campaigns. Your main duties will be administrative the Medical Biosciences admissions programme.
You’ll be based in the Faculty Education Office, supporting academics and clinicians to deliver an outstanding medical and biosciences education. We coordinate the student journey from admission to graduation, providing first-line services to students, supporting strategy and policy development, financial management, communications, governance, and quality.
- Educated to degree level or significant work experience within a similar role
- Highly relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within student admissions
- Experience of providing a responsive, customer-focused service
- Experience of planning and progressing work activities within general guidelines, using initiative and judgment.
- Experience of responding to non-routine work situations
This post is Part time (21 hours – 0.6 of FTE) and Open-ended, based at the South Kensington Campus but with travel to other campuses in London.
