King’s is now looking to appoint a Director of King’s Online to manage and continue building the portfolio of online learning activity across all 9 faculties within the university. Given the rapidly changing landscape of online learning requirements across the sector, the Director will have an unparalleled opportunity to help the university deliver on ambitious plans. King’s Online will form part of King’s Education in order to deliver King’s ambitions in expanding learning opportunities, becoming a sector leader in design and pedagogy in product development and educational delivery. Reporting to the Executive Director of King’s Education, the Director of King’s Online will be responsible for maintaining key relationships with Senior Management, Faculties/Departments and Professional Services across the university, as well as third-party partners and service providers. The Director will work closely with the Vice President & Vice Principal (Education) and other senior stakeholders to expand and support academic opportunities, as well as to enable a market-led approach to portfolio development. The Director will bring the knowledge and experience necessary to manage a range of services, including instructional design, user experience, content/platform design and development, and media design and production.
Responsible for the overall leadership and success of the King’s Online unit, the Director will ensure the team are global leaders in innovative online design and development, scoping best practice worldwide. Working closely with university leaders, the Director will be responsible for developing and operationalising an aspiring and commercially viable vision for King’s Online, in line with King’s over-arching strategic and financial plans. The Director will be responsible for engaging with commercial partners and overseeing contract management. The postholder will also have a close working relationship with the Director of Professional Education, who leads the King’s Professional and Executive Development unit. Excellent leadership skills, and communication and relationship skills are essential requirements, alongside an ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
