Job description

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and people-focused Online Programmes Manger (OPM) to oversee the delivery of our small but rapidly growing distance learning postgraduate programmes.

Reporting to the Digital Education Manager, the OPM will establish excellent working relationships with key stakeholders in the Business School, colleagues in other departments and those in the central teams. It is essential that you can build and sustain constructive relationships with all stakeholders.

You will lead and manage a team of Senior Programme Officers and work closely with academic faculty, the Kings Online team, and other colleagues to deliver a high-quality student experience and support the team to meet its performance goals. You will have a passion for delivering an excellent learning experience and an understanding of the pedagogical principles and approaches which underpin online learning.

You will bring a mindset of continuous improvement and an ability to analyse, create and implement consistent and efficient processes and systems to deliver a first-class service.

As well as managing people and business relationships, you must be adept at managing and improving processes and making effective use of enterprise systems.

Key responsibilities

  • To lead a support service for the School’s Online Programmes that is consistently professional, responsive, effective, and which provides a great student experience.
  • To be responsible for the Online Programmes team, including: leading, motivating and developing the team, recruitment, and conducting Performance Development Reviews (appraisals).
  • To foster a culture of continuous improvement both within own team and across the School’s Professional Services.
  • To support the Digital Education Manager to deliver the Business School’s strategic and educational objectives.
  • To build and manage effective stakeholder relationships with academics, professional services, Kings Online, and external delivery partners.
  • To provide statistics, data analyses, and written reports as required, drawing on relevant systems and sources, and liaising with wider College networks as needed.
  • To pro-actively and systematically review relevant policies, processes and ways of working to drive continuous improvement, identify and disseminate examples of good practice, and troubleshoot as necessary.
  • To contribute to relevant committees, working groups and networks, both within the School and across College.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in any subject (minimum 2:2 and ideally 2:1 or above or international equivalent)or equivalent experience

Skills / Experience

  • Experience ofonlineprogramme delivery, in a customer focused environment, preferably in a Higher Education setting
  • Experience of managing a team, including leading and motivating a team, along with carrying out recruitment,performance,and appraisal processes
  • Excellent communication skills, both face to face and in writing, with the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people in a personable and professional manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with staff,students,and external parties
  • Excellent presentation skills that engage and inspire an audience
  • Collating,interrogating,and analysing data from a variety of sources to produce statistical and written reports

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive understanding of e-learning technologies in an educational setting and good knowledge of current trendsin digital education

  • Willingness to update knowledge and commitment to continuing professional development
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, preferably with experience of project management and/or change management
