At this exciting time of investment and growth in sport at Newcastle, we are seeking to appoint to the role of Director of Sport to develop a strategy for the future.

The Director of Sport will be the University’s strategic lead for non-academic sport and fitness, with responsibility for developing and building this reputation through inclusive participation and outstanding performance, underpinned by a philosophy of sport for all.

The role will be based at our new £30m+ Sports Centre, and has responsibility for leading a large and diverse team across a broad range of sports and fitness programmes, services and facilities with an annual turnover of c. £2m.

Key to the role will be working in partnership with the Students’ Union, the School of Biomedical, Nutritional and Sports Sciences, Student Services, Estates and Facilities and a range of external partners. You will lead Sport at Newcastle to maximise the participation of students from all backgrounds in sport and fitness to encourage engagement and wellbeing, to support our performance clubs to achieve at the highest level and to attract sporting talent to the University.
