The role

To be part of a team of Student Employment Assistants who provide a comprehensive administrative and customer support service to the Business Engagement Teams. This includes, but is not limited to; graduate recruitment activity, student employment on campus, work experience schemes (internally and externally funded), vacancy coordination, student and employer liaison and assignment briefings, event attendance and support, and the coordination and dissemination of wide-ranging information.

Each Post Holder will usually support a particular stream of Business Engagement activity, for example supporting the Jobs on Campus (JobsOC) or NCL Internships Programmes or the Graduate Recruitment activity but may be asked to cover any aspect of the Team’s business, often at short notice.

As a key part of the Employer Liaison team, you will work with regional, national and international organisations looking to raise their brand awareness on campus and recruit our students and graduates.

You will coordinate a programme of digital and in-person employer engagement activity, liaising with recruiters on sign up/attendance, as well as approving Graduate Recruiter registrations and vacancies in the TARGETConnect platform, ensuring they meet the terms and conditions of our Duty of Care policy.

To be successful in this role you should be dedicated to providing a high level of customer service to external stakeholders, demonstrate high levels of accuracy and attention to detail, have good organisational and communication skills and be a flexible and collaborative colleague.

Knowledge of the Graduate Recruitment market would be advantageous.

Key Accountabilities

  • Approval of Graduate Recruiter registrations and vacancies in the TARGETConnect platform, ensuring they meet the terms and conditions of our Duty of Care policy
  • Coordination of digital and in-person employer engagement activity on campus, including presentations and skills sessions, advising on suitable dates and monitoring and liaising with recruiters on sign up/attendance
  • Proactively selling recruitment fairs and events, liaising with Graduate Recruiters and Marketing & Events colleagues on booking forms, brochure content, sponsorship and finances
  • With the guidance of more senior colleagues, proactively promote the varied engagement options available to employers. These include events, recruitment fairs, targeted emails, sponsorship opportunities and vacancy advertising.
  • Signpost requests from Graduate Recruiters for additional promotion of vacancies and events to colleagues in Information and Marketing teams for circulation and inclusion on the website/social media channels
  • Develop rapport with employers, face to face, over the telephone/video call and by email, and to nurture and develop these relationships. This can include offering basic guidance on vacancies and engagement opportunities and when necessary, referring more complex queries to line managers as appropriate
  • Coordination and administration of requests for employer contacts from the Careers Service and wider University for reputational rankings and league tables, key indicators of success for the University
  • To undertake any other duties reasonably requested in the delivery of the Careers Service’s strategic objectives.

  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, database packages and the Internet
  • Clerical or administration experience in an office environment

Qualifications

  • Good level of literacy and numeracy. English Language GCSE grade A-C or equivalent (Essential)
