Lawhas been taughtat Newcastle since 1923 and Newcastle Law School is spread across Windsor Court and Windsor Terrace, alongside the Law Library, andin close proximity toboth the Philip Robinson Library and Marjorie Robinson Library Rooms. Newcastle Law School seeks to appointtwo fixed-term (12 months) teaching and research lectureships to cover for maternity leave, scheduled sabbatical leaveaffecting ourPublic Law modules, and to facilitate additional teaching of EULaw during a transitional period when it is taught at both UG year 2 (outgoing degreeprogramme) and UG year 1 (new degreeprogramme). Youwill be provided with academic mentoring and would be expected toundertake high quality research in a related field in line with the Law School research strategy, and broadly aligning with our emerging Constitutionalism & Governance research grouping. Interdisciplinarity is welcomed.

1)Teaching and Learning
- Design and deliver high quality teaching and learning material, resources and activities to students in line with School and Faculty teaching objectives and timetablerequirements
- To have the ability to contribute to teaching on undergraduate and potentially postgraduate modules, such as our compulsory courses on EU Law, Constitutional Law, and Administrative Law and HumanRights
- Provide a range of timely student support to enhance the student experience and achievements. Set, mark and assess course work and examinations, providing timely and effective feedback to students in line withUniversitypolicy, and utilise on-line and digitised curricula and educationframeworks
- Provide personal tutoring and pastoral guidance (when appropriate, obtaining specialist support and advice)
- Supervise undergraduate and taught postgraduate students’dissertations
- Contribute to the planning, design and development of modules and programmes to improve teaching across the School andFaculty
- Evaluate own practice and presently have or a willingness to work towards a category ofAssociate Fellowship with Advance HE (AFHEA status)
- Provide education for life, that engages, challenges and supports our students to discover and fulfil their potential both while they are studying with us andoncethey have graduated
2)Research and Innovation
- Plan, organise and carry out research, to ensure the contribution of new knowledge, insight and innovation to the relevant field ofPublic and/or EULaw
- Conduct research that demonstrates international standards of excellence in terms of originality, significance and rigour and ensure all our students benefit from studying in a research intensive, research excellent academicenvironment
- Contribute to the research profile of the Law School by publishing in high quality journals, demonstrating impact, working collaboratively across disciplines, and pursuing external researchfunding
