The Role

To work closely with the Faculty’s Marketing and Student Recruitment Managers and Market Intelligence Manager to support all aspects of marketing and student recruitment activity relating to the recruitment and conversion of home and international undergraduate and postgraduate students, in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. To co-ordinate the Faculty Unibuddy scheme that offers prospective students peer-to-peer interactions with current students and which also supports the delivery of the team’s communications and content strategy.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work closely with the Faculty’s Marketing and Student Recruitment Managers to provide support across all aspects of marketing and student recruitment activity, including: creating content and copy for a variety of channels, ensuring it is researched informed, relevant and engaging, and employs SEO principles to maximise reach; proofreading and copy editing; supporting the technical setup and delivery of on-campus and virtual events and supporting colleagues with digital content creation for events and with training them on how to deliver the events
  • Support the implementation and evaluation of Faculty marketing and student recruitment plans to attract and convert well qualified home and international undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Support the Faculty’s Market Intelligence Manager across a wide range of data analysis and market research activities to inform student recruitment and marketing, including: analysing and interpreting data and trends; competitor analysis; applicant survey analysis; identifying key themes from secondary research; supporting portfolio development research and translating research and data analysis into clear reports, conveying complex information in an engaging, easy to understand way
  • Co-ordinate the Faculty Unibuddy scheme by:
  • Recruiting student ambassadors annually
  • Training and managing students
  • Processing payment for work completed
  • Using insight to inform student blog and vlog themes
  • Reviewing and publishing blogs and Vlogs on the Unuibuddy platform
  • Monitoring peer-to-peer conversations
  • Requesting support for events and paid media campaign content
  • Repurpose student-created content for a range of digital channels including the University website, email communications and social media
  • Develop close working relationships with team members and colleagues in the central Marketing and Student Recruitment teams to deliver collaborative and efficient student recruitment activity and to ensure best practice is shared
  • Keep up to date with the latest marketing and student recruitment developments, including the use of new technologies and best practices elsewhere in the sector
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade as requested by the Faculty Head of Student Recruitment and Marketing
  • You will be required to be flexible and adapt as priorities and responsibilities may shift from time to time as the Faculty, Schools and the University respond to challenges and changes in the higher education sector

The Person (Essential)

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Excellent copywriting, editing and proof reading skills, and experience of writing engaging and accessible content
  • Experience in creating and commissioning digital content for a range of platforms and channels
  • Outstanding attention to detail and proven ability to perform accurately and effectively under pressure
  • Experience analysing and interpreting data and trends with a focused attention to accuracy
  • Experience in conveying complex information and key issues in an engaging, easy to understand way, both written and verbally
  • Excellent project and time management skills and the ability to prioritise work within tight deadlines
  • Experience in identifying and understanding audience needs
  • Ability to use initiative and adopt a creative approach to problem solving
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience of working in the higher education sector within a marketing or student recruitment role (Desirable)
  • Experience in working with student workers (Desirable)
  • Experience of training and digitally upskilling others (Desirable)
  • Experience in supporting the delivery of face-to-face and online events (Desirable)
  • An awareness and understanding of the current issues, policies and processes relating to marketing and student recruitment in higher education (Desirable)

Qualifications

  • A relevant degree or equivalent educational qualification and/or relevant work experience
