Academic Administrator

Faculty of Physiological Sciences Undergraduate Studies Office, Medical Sciences Teaching Centre, South Parks Road, Oxford

Grade 6: £29,614 – £35,326 p.a. (pro rata for part time)

We are looking for an Academic Administrator to support undergraduate course administration for students in Years 1 and 2 of the Pre-clinical Medicine and Biomedical Sciences programmes.

The Medical Sciences Division aims to admit approximately 190 students to these courses each year. As the responsibility for teaching and examining is shared across all academic departments in the Division, the on-course organisation is considerably more complex than for most other undergraduate programmes in the university.

As a member of the office team, you will be involved in all aspects of course administration, but your main responsibility will be to manage and co-ordinate the production of the termly teaching timetables for students in Years 1 and 2. This is an intricate process because teaching staff are drawn from a number of different departments, and much of the teaching is attended by students from more than one undergraduate programme.

You will also be the Disability Co-ordinator for Pre-clinical Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and will assist with the admissions procedures and University Examinations for both programmes.

Applicants should have recent experience of academic administrative work. In addition, you must have excellent organisational, analytical and IT skills and the ability to manage a broad workload in an efficient manner. You must also be able to work systematically and to a high level of accuracy, with excellent attention to detail.

Excellent written and oral communication skills and a high level of personal discretion and judgement are also required. Although you will be a member of a small team of course administrators, you will need to have the ability to work with minimal supervision, within a culture of academic leadership.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. As part of your application you will be required to upload a CV and a supporting statement.

This is a permanent, part-time post, based at the Medical Sciences Teaching Centre, South Parks Road, Oxford.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Friday 3 December 2021. Interviews will be held during the week beginning 13 December 2021.
