Grade 10a: Combined University and College salary: £48,114 – £64,605 per annum, plus a College Housing Allowance of £9,829 per annum (if applicable) plus other benefits
The Department of Biochemistry and St Anne’s College are seeking to recruit an Associate Professor with expertise in microbial biochemistry and/or biochemistry. The role of the Associate Professor is to engage in both research and undergraduate teaching on these topics on our 4-year degree course for Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry. The appointee will have high quality laboratory space in the New Biochemistry Building, within the Microbiology and Systems Biology Theme. This vibrant Theme researches microbial cell envelope structure and biogenesis, antibiotic resistance, protein import and secretion, cellular homeostasis control, cell population dynamics and competition strategies within microbiomes. All groups share state-of-the art research facilities for structural, cellular and molecular biology and have access to a range of Departmental and University PhD training programmes.
You should have a higher degree (DPhil/PhD) and postdoctoral experience in a relevant biologically-related science; a strong track record of published research in microbial biochemistry, and commitment to attract research funding; verified experience of undergraduate teaching; proven ability to contribute to the teaching, training and supervision of graduate students; good communication and interpersonal skills; the ability and commitment to undertake a range of administrative duties within both the Department and the College, and to contribute to outreach activities and widening access.
