Biology (a new department arising from the merger of the Plant Sciences and Zoology Departments)
Oxford Grade 30S: Combined salary £48,835 to £65,574 per year (depending on experience) plus benefits
We are seeking a talented, highly motivated researcher and teacher with outstanding potential to bring exciting new perspectives to the study and teaching of molecular plant sciences at the University of Oxford.
This post is offered by the new Department of Biology in partnership with Somerville College.
You will establish or maintain your own research group, fostering a collaborative, supportive atmosphere and encouraging research achievement. You will support your own research through competitive grant proposals, and will offer high-quality, innovative and inclusive teaching through lectures, practical classes and tutorials. In both the Department and College, you will play an active role in management and decision-making, and will embed the principles of equality and diversity in all aspects of your work.
You will have a doctorate and postdoctoral experience that demonstrates your competence in the field of plant pathology and a publication record appropriate to your career stage and personal circumstances. You will have the ability to inspire, educate and enthuse students, and to effectively manage a research group. Outstanding communications and interpersonal skills are essential.
The post is full time and will become permanent on successful completion of a five-year review.
