This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Information Security Team at the University of Oxford and help us protect ground breaking research. The Information Security Team ensures that the University remains secure whilst deploying leading-edge IT facilities to support the distinctive needs of those engaged in teaching, learning, research, administration, and strategic planning.
The University of Oxford is seeking an experienced information security professional with excellent technical skills to join the University’s security operations function. The Cyber Security Specialist joins the University of Oxford’s Computer Emergency Response Team (OxCERT) as an experiencedLinux,Windows, or Cloudsystems security expert.
You will help continuously improve the set-up with a strong focus on automation in collaboration with the Head of Information Security Operations and the rest of the team. You will draw on your expertise to take a lead role investigating threats and remediating these with the appropriate countermeasures.
For this purpose, the postholder is expected to bring prior experience in one of Linux, Windows or Cloud systems, a profound knowledge in managing and configuring industry standard technologies, and programming and automation skills.
Experience in managing information security risk and handling information security would be beneficial, along with a thorough understanding of the broader information security domains. OxCERT is running on-premise Elasticsearch based SIEM solution, Intrusion Detection System (IDS), and a vulnerability scanning system as well as other open source and commercial tools. We are also in the midst of migrating to a container based infrastructure using Kubernetes. This role offers an excellent opportunity to learn about these technologies.
