Departmental Lecturer in Computer Vision

Department of Engineering Science, Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PJ

Grade 8 – £40,792 – £49,533 p.a with a discretionary range up to £54,131

We are seeking a full-time Departmental Lecturer in Computer Vision to join the Visual Geometry Group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by ERC, EPSRC and industrial sponsorship and is fixed-term for 4 years.

The main research focus of the role is to lead a team of PDRAs and DPhil students within the Oxford Visual Geometry Group in developing computer vision technologies. We invite applications of candidates with an expertise at the intersection of computer vision and deep learning, with a strong emphasis on unsupervised learning and 3D reconstruction.

As well as supervising the work of the other team members and managing some of these projects, this job involves helping to develop the long-term vision for computer vision systems, establishing and answering new research questions and providing both thought and technical leadership.

You should hold a relevant PhD/DPhil, with post qualification research experience in computer vision and deep learning. In particular, we encourage applicants with a strong background in the AI areas of Image-Based and Unsupervised 3D Reconstruction, Representation of 3D Geometry, Unsupervised Representation Learning and Unsupervised Perception. Strong candidates will also have substantial and proven experience in deploying these AI-based methods on computer vision systems at scale.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Prof Andrea Vedaldi (email:andrea.vedaldi@eng.ox.ac.uk)
