Departmental Lecturer in Law and Public Policy
Blavatnik School of Government, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG
Grade 8: £42,149 – £50,296 per annum (with a discretionary range to £54,943) per annum
The Blavatnik School of Government wishes to appoint a full-time Departmental Lecturer in Law and Public Policy. This is a fixed-term appointment for two years commencing from 1 September 2022.
This post is an excellent opportunity to join and contribute to the development of a new and ambitious school of public policy at one of the world’s leading universities. The School is committed to equipping its students with the academic, policy and practical skills that are required to have a significant impact in their professional lives. Our innovative Master of Public Policy (MPP) lays significant weight on practical skills and also includes a series of workshops on policy skills, including those facilitated by our world-class Distinguished Practitioners. From September 2022, the MSc in Public Policy Research will be introduced.
We are now looking to recruit a Departmental Lecturer who combines the skills to deliver formal academic training with a keen awareness of public policy and the policy-making process. You will teach, examine and supervise students taking the MPP and MSc.
Your duties will include contributing to the core Law and Public Policy module on the MPP through teaching, marking, and assistance to the module convenor. In addition, you will either contribute to a further core module suited to your expertise and the School’s needs, teach or help teach an option (elective) module to MPP/MSc students, or otherwise support the delivery of the MPP and the MSc. You will also participate in regular meetings related to teaching and advising students.
Though the post is chiefly a teaching role, you will have time and will be expected to conduct academically excellent, policy relevant research in support of your continuing academic career.
