Events and Alumni Officer
Department of Politics and International Relations; Manor Road Building, DPIR, Manor Road, Oxford, OX1 3UQ
Grade 5: £25,941 – £30,942 per annum, pro rota
We are seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to join the Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR) as one of two part-time Events and Alumni Officers (job share), to share events and alumni relations responsibilities. The position is available for start from 7 November 2021.
This is a varied role that covers in-person and virtual events at DPIR, ranging from seminars and workshops to conferences and distinguished annual lectures, and supporting a range of alumni activities.
You will, with your co-Events and Alumni Officer, split day-to-day responsibilities equally, and divide event responsibilities on a project-by-project basis. In this role you might take the lead on flagship events such as the Cyril Foster Lecture (the University’s annual distinguished lecture in the field of International Relations), help organise DPIR’s contribution to the University’s Meeting Minds Alumni events, Undergraduate Open Days, and support a number of other key events and lectures throughout the year.
Events responsibilities include planning and running of the Department’s events, liaising with academic convenors, speakers, vendors and colleagues across the Department and the University, as well as the technical training and support of colleagues to run their own virtual events.
You will also contribute to alumni relations strategy and planning, delivering a range of alumni events, communications and initiatives (including networking and mentoring projects, and departmental fundraising campaigns). You will be a polite and helpful first port-of-call for the Department’s alumni, responding efficiently to requests, and keep the University’s alumni database ‘DARS’ up-to-date.
You will be proactive, very organised, and flexible, with excellent communication and event organisation skills. You will work effectively both independently and as a team member with colleagues from varying backgrounds.
You will be expected to work out-of-office hours on occasions, dependent on event timings (time in lieu may be claimed). The position is available for start from 7 November 2021.
Informal enquiries about this role can be addressed to the Communications Manager, Helen Morley at email@example.com
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement and details of two referees as part of your online application. Only applications received before midday (UK time) on Monday 4 October 2021 can be considered. Please quote reference 153109 on all correspondence.
Interviews are likely to be held week commencing Monday 11 October and may be held in person (although this is to be confirmed).
Committed to equality and valuing diversity.
