The Ashmolean Museum has been described as “unquestionably the finest university museum in the world” (The Times, October 29th, 2009). It is part of the Oxford University Museums Group and is open to all without charge. Housing the University’s world class collections of art and archaeology, the Ashmolean is a great place to work.

Working with the Head of Buildings & Facilities, you will be responsible for managing the Hard-FM operations of the museums estate of seven buildings in Oxford. This will involve FM compliance, building projects, pre-planned and reactive maintenance tasks such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, painting and decorating. You will also have line management responsibility of two Facilities Technicians, a Facilities Assistant and indirect line management of an electrical contractor. You will ensure that all buildings are running efficiently, liaising with internal departments, neighbouring University Buildings and University Estate Services.

This role combines the need for technical hands on expertise, communication and management skills. You will have experience in a facilities management role, strong technical skills in the areas of building services and fabric maintenance and a track record that proves your ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

This is a full-time, permanent contract. You will be required to work occasional evenings, weekends and bank holidays when there is an operational requirement and be part of an emergency on-call rota (call out allowance pending).
