Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics, Old Road Campus, Roosevelt Drive, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7BN

Grade 7: £33,309 – £40,927 with a discretionary range to £44,706 per annum

We are seeking a Genomic Data Analyst and Modeller with excellent analytical and data modelling skills to join the Bioinformatics Core at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics (WHG).

Your role will involve analysis and integration of data from single cell profiling approaches as well as bulk RNA-sequencing, DNA/exome sequencing, functional genomics, and epigenetics datasets, sometimes combined in large-scale multi-omic studies. You will join a small group of bioinformaticians with a remit to support the research programmes at WHG, the wider strategic activity of the Centre and bioinformatics training. You will be responsible for providing analytical support to specific research projects and contributing to other areas of Bioinformatics Core support. You will work in conjunction with different research groups (bioinformaticians and lab scientists), which form a strong collaborative network in computational biology research within genomic/transcriptomic/epigenomic sequencing, single-cell profiling, imaging and proteomics

It is essential that you hold a PhD (or close to completion) in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Statistical Genomics or related fields. You will have demonstrable experience and practical success in biostatistics or bioinformatics applied to genomic data types, including data processing, analysis and interpretation. You must have advanced proficiency in the use of statistical programming languages (R and/or Python). It will be required that you have the ability to organise and prioritise work efficiently whilst delivering results to the required standard and to an agreed schedule. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to interact and communicate with colleagues with a wide variety of backgrounds is essential.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.

This post is offered full-time on a fixed term contract until 30 November 2023, and is funded by the Wellcome.
