Graduate Studies and Policy Officer

Social Sciences Divisional Office, Hayes House, 75 George Street, Oxford

Grade 7: £33,309 – £40,927 p.a.

The Social Sciences Division is one of four academic Divisions in the University, comprising 15 departments, faculties and schools. The Division is a world-leading centre for research and education in the social sciences.

The Graduate Studies and Policy Officer is an exciting new post in which you will provide expert advice on University and Divisional graduate policy to our departments. You will also have oversight of the day-to-day running of on-course graduate administration for the Divisional Office, including line management of the divisional graduate studies team. The role is extremely varied and will require close working with both central teams and departmentally-based student administrators, including developing and providing training on graduate processes and procedures. You will service the Divisional Graduate Studies Committee, provide advice to the Associate Heads of Division for Education and for Graduate and Researcher Training, and will pro-actively contribute to the work of the cross-Divisional Graduate Studies Administration and Policy Group. You will work with the Head and Deputy Head of Education Policy and Planning to support the oversight of graduate admissions and graduate access initiatives across the Division, and will act as a divisional super-user for a number of student systems.

In this role you will need to be extremely well-organised with excellent attention to detail, able to interpret and communicate complex regulations, processes and procedures, and provide outstanding levels of service to a diverse range of customers.

This is a full-time, permanent post.

As part of your online application you will be required to upload a supporting statement demonstrating with evidence how you meet each of the selection criteria.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Dr Andy Garlick, Deputy Head of Education Policy and Planning (email: andy.garlick@socsci.ox.ac.uk).

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Friday 19 November 2021. Interviews are anticipated to take place in the week commencing Monday 6 December 2021.
