Head of Strategy and Corporate Partnerships

Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, School of Geography and the Environment, South Parks Road, Oxford

Grade 8: £41,526 – £49,553 p.a. (with discretionary range to £54,131)

The Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment (SSEE) exists to get the world to net-zero carbon emissions and achieve sustainable development. We intend to significantly increase the reach and impact of our research over the next five years. A key part of that will be developing and communicating research to enterprise and accelerating its take up by industries and companies in key sectors. This new post is central to achieving that aim. You will be personally responsible for rapidly developing and implementing effective corporate partnerships, including setting up new corporate membership groups, and bringing in significant donations from companies, and supporting our strategy for the next phase of the School’s development.

The duties include supporting strategy development to position SSEE as a leading voice on climate change and enterprise, particularly in the run up to the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference. You will work closely with the Director, Chief Operating Officer and senior academics to develop new relationships with enterprises, NGOs and other organisations and help to disseminate new research findings and promote their adoption.

The successful applicant will have a Bachelor’s degree and exceptional communication skills and a can-do approach. You will be able to produce compelling proposals/pitches, speak authoritatively to the mission of the School and convey academic research clearly and persuasively to business. You will be independent, self-starting, highly motivated, confident in working with minimal direction and adept at navigating ambiguity. You will have experience of raising funds and making grants.

This appointment is available for 2 years in the first instance with the opportunity for renewal.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Wednesday 3 March 2021 and interviews will be held in early March 2021.
