Helsby Kroll Post-doctoral Fellowship in Business and Human Rights

Grade 7: £32,817 to £40,322 per annum

This one-year post-doctoral fellowship will provide an opportunity for an exceptional candidate to conduct research in the field of Business and Human Rights, with particular focus on one or more aspects of business compliance, litigation, fraud and risk and/or business data security, under the supervision of the Institute Director and Head of Research.

The successful candidate will be able to identify and develop lines of research enquiry including if appropriate, to contribute to the collection, management of project data; write and publish academic publications and other project outputs based on the research done including papers, articles, book chapters and policy briefs linked to the Institute’s areas of focus and to assist with the management of programmes and activities within the Bonavero Institute and to participate in Institute events, including workshops, seminars and conferences and providing occasional assistance as a rapporteur if requested.

The successful candidate should hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in Law or specialising in an aspect of Human Rights Law; have a coherent one-year project proposal relating to an aspect of Business and Human Rights Law; demonstrable interest in, and professional familiarity with, scholarly literature and debates within the field, relevant to the project proposal; outstanding research skills and the ability to contribute, under the direction of the Institute Director, to the design, analysis and writing of scholarly articles, papers and monographs; excellent organisational, verbal and written communication and networking skills and an ability to communicate well and explain legal concepts and human rights developments to audiences that have limited knowledge of the subjects.

The post is fixed term for 12 months and funded by Kroll, plus private donations made by friends, family and associates of Tommy Helsby, in his memory. The postholder will be based at the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, Mansfield College
