MSD IT Services provide the underlying systems and infrastructure which deliver a suite of shared IT services across the Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford. The division depends on these services to support its world-leading research and teaching activities as well as its professional services and administration. MSD IT support a user base in excess of 6,000 people.
We are looking for a highly motived, experienced individual to join the MSD IT Systems Team to help us manage our large and complex Linux, storage and networking estate which is spread across the city of Oxford. This is an exciting time for MSD IT Services as we start a journey to replace, renew and rebuild various services and infrastructure. We will be moving the management to a Devops / DevSecOps / SRE mindset and toolchain, and looking at how we can leverage public cloud.
You should have:
• Advanced Linux (RedHat/Ubuntu), networking (Cisco/Fortinet) and general IT infrastructure (VMware/SAN) expertise
• Coding experience, preferably in python and with web applications
• DevOps/SRE toolchain experience (ansible, git etc) or a willingness to learn
• A clear understanding of cybersecurity principles
• A positive can-do attitude
