The Merchandising Assistant – Stock & Online will work as part of the busy Commercial team at the Ashmolean Museum. Our merchandising team ensure the right product is in the right place at the right time. The Ashmolean Museum hosts two retail shops within the Museum as well as an online shop and various other retail related activities throughout the year. We are recruiting a Merchandising Assistant whose primary responsibility will be assisting the movement, processing, preparation, storage and management of our stock both on site and across external locations.

You will be accepting and checking deliveries of stock, moving them through the site to process and store where required. This includes booking stock into the retail system, processing/pricing of stock, replenishment of store displays, preparation of stock for wholesale and online orders when required. You will have exceptional attention to detail, strong numeracy and computer skills and excellent communication skills. This role will support the Merchandising & Online team in ensuring all administrative, physical and digital tasks are fulfilled to the highest standard. You will also help cover the online shop order fulfilment as and when required.

You will be able to work efficiently and effectively both within the team and autonomously, with an ability to manage your workload and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines. You will be able to carry out the physical demands of the role including manual handling and heavy lifting. A good level of IT literacy is required, to correctly manage stock across our software systems. You will also be a strong communicator who is comfortable both on the telephone with customers or managing several email enquiries at once.

This is a permanent variable hours post, flexible availability is required throughout the week and particularly at peak trading times such as Christmas, exhibition openings, half term dates etc. Hours may increase or decrease depending on the requirements of the business. Early starts, evening shifts and/or weekend work may be required.
