Novo Nordisk Clinical Research Training Fellow

Research departments of the University of Oxford

Grade E64: £33,885 – £54,309

Novo Nordisk is funding a prestigious fellowship programme at the University of Oxford for both basic science and clinical researchers, focused on diabetes, cardiometabolism, liver and renal disease. We are looking to recruit an outstanding Clinical Research Training Fellow who can utilise the support offered by this programme to become a future leader in the field, developing scientific excellence and ultimately improving patients’ lives.

In Oxford, world-class research is conducted across the spectrum of population, clinical and basic science. Depending on the project selected, you will be based in: 1) Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, 2) The Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, 3) Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, 4) Nuffield Department of Medicine, 5) Department of Pharmacology or, 6) Nuffield Department of Population Health. There is also the opportunity to spend time in the laboratories of Novo Nordisk (both in Oxford and Denmark). This distribution of time will depend on the specific project.

You will conduct the research project selected, and produce novel scientific data and a thesis of suitable quality to obtain a DPhil (PhD).

You should have prior research experience (typically a BSc), a medical degree and some specialist experience, typically having obtained MRCP or equivalent, but not CCT or consultant status. You will also have a strong CV, having published in international journals. You will be committed to a career in diabetes, cardiovascular medicine or a related area, clinical practice and research. You should also have evidence of excellent interpersonal skills and leadership.

Please note that while we will consider all applications, the funding provided for the Clinical Research Training Fellowship will only cover DPhil fees at the ‘Home’ rate.

The start date for successful candidates is ideally in Autumn 2021 – however a start date earlier than autumn and as late as January or February 2022 may also be possible.

This is a full time post offered for a fixed-term of three years.

You will be required to upload a supporting statement, CV and names of referees as part of your online application.

Further information is detailed in the job description.

The closing date for applications is midday on Monday 15 March 2021 and interviews will be held on Thursday 13 May 2021.
