Oxford-Janssen Single Cell Genomics Senior Bioinformatician

Applications are invited for a Oxford-Janssen Single Cell Genomics Senior Bioinformatician to join Dr Calliope Dendrou’s group at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics. This is a unique opportunity to help lead the data analysis for rewarding research that is making a fundamental impact on human health.

As a Oxford-Janssen Single Cell Senior Bioinformatician, you will join the Oxford-Janssen Cartography Consortium project that aims to provide insights into pathogenic pathways across immune mediated inflammatory disorders. You will thrive on scientific challenges associated with analysing complex biological data sets, as well as testing and developing new analytical tools and methods. You will produce manuscript-level reports and take the lead in more specialised publications on bioinformatics. You will also communicate with a range of stakeholders, including the Oxford-Janssen management team and contributing groups across Oxford and Janssen.

You will hold a PhD/ DPhil in Bioinformatics, Statistics, Mathematics or another related computational subject. You will have demonstrable experience of analysing single-cell RNA-seq data (generated using 10X Genomics platforms) derived from human tissue. You will also have a proficiency with a high-level programming language (Python, R) and/or appropriate scripting languages. It is essential that you have previous experience in a leadership role and driving project completion. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills, the capacity to work collaboratively and to communicate results clearly and effectively.

The position is for a fixed-term contract for 24 months, in the first instance, and is funded by Janssen.
