Grade 4: £22,847 – £26,341 per annum pro rata

The Department of Chemistry is recruiting for a Part-time Graduate Studies Assistant (Maternity cover) to provide clerical support to the Graduate Studies Administrator, who is responsible for administering the Department’s graduate degree programmes.

You will be responsible for providing administrative support, responding to general graduate admissions enquiries, assisting with the admission process and maintaining student records during their course. You will also be required to deal with any matters that arise during the academic year involving graduate courses and have an overview of current graduate studies matters, as well as administer all visiting graduate students in the Department.

You will have previous secretarial experience, accurate typing skills, and have previous experience of working in an office environment.

You will be educated to A-Level standard or equivalent, have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, and be able to communicate with a broad range of people.You will have good IT skills, including MS Office, the internet, databases and typing skills and have the ability to learn new IT systems as necessary.

The working hours are flexible and the post could also provide an exciting secondment opportunity.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QR.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 midday on 2 December 2021. Interviews will be held on 17 December 2021.
