A Project Manager (part-time – 18.75 – 22.5 hours per week) is required to coordinate a new and exciting cancer research initiative at entitled “The Early Detection of Hepatocellular Liver Cancer [DeLIVER]”. This exciting new 4 year project is the result of an award by Cancer Research UK within the field of Early Detection (https://www.oxcode.ox.ac.uk/news/funding-success-for-liver-cancer-early-detection). Chief Investigator, Prof Ellie Barnes, will lead a team that consists of of experts in clinical care, together with scientists, working in partnership with industry. This multi-disciplinary approach aims to detect early liver cancer so increasing cure rates in patients. With the use of liquid biopsy technologies, multiparametric liver imaging, and other protein and omic analysis, our consortium will learn more about the origins of liver cancer and develop more sensitive detection tests for HCC early detection. We will establish a national cross-sectional cohort of patients with early HCC and cirrhosis, and a large prospective cohort of >3000 people, followed annually for at least 3 years.

The post-holder will have a post-graduate degree. There will be a need to understand the details of project management that ensure milestones are met and programs of work remain within budget. The successful applicant will also have recent experience of managing a clinical trial (s) in the NHS, will understand basic scientific language and will be confident in working closely with the industry sector. This requires a person with leadership qualities and experience in managing complex projects. You will have the ability to work under pressure and independently, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and communicate effectively with people at all levels.

This post is available for 12 months in the first instance but may be extended by 3 years or more.
