Grade 8: £41,526 – £48,114 per annum
We are looking for a highly motivated and well-organized Senior Postdoctoral research assistant to work in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine’s laboratories at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics (www.well.ox.ac.uk), a world class molecular medicine research facility located on the University of Oxford’s Old Road campus, co-located with major research institutes, facilities and hospitals. A major responsibility and opportunity for you will be to maintain and develop the well-established collaboration with Prof. David Greaves’ laboratory in the Dunn School of Pathology (https://www.path.ox.ac.uk/content/david-greaves), supported by the BHF Programme Grant.
You will take a leading role in a team with other postdoctoral research assistants, students, technical staff and fellows, on the roles of immune cell function in cardiovascular disease pathogenesis. Specifically, you will be responsible for leading a major part of the work supported by the Greaves-Channon labs’ British Heart Foundation Programme Grant. Your work will include genetic mouse models and you will manage your own academic research and administrative activities, including the development and leadership of local and external collaborations.
You will hold a PhD or DPhil in a relevant discipline (such as Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Molecular and Cell Biology or Natural Sciences) and have proven track record in high-quality peer-reviewed publications. You will have expertise as a post-doc scientist in working with targeted/conditional/inducible genetic mouse models, and studies in isolated immune cells including functional studies, FACS, molecular and biochemical. Experience in the field of cardiovascular inflammation and metabolism would be desirable, but applicants bringing experience from other related fields are also encouraged.
This is a full time appointment on a fixed term contract for 1 year with the expectation that the contract will be extended following the renewal of the 5 year BHF programme grant. You will be based at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, Old Road Campus, Roosevelt Drive, Oxford.
