Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Ovarian Cancer

Grade 7: £32,817 to £40,322 (with a discretionary range up to £44,045) per annum
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Ovarian Cancer based at the Ahmed Group at the Weatherall Institute for Molecular Medicine. The position is funded by the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre and will investigate genetic and non-genetic heterogeneity in ovarian cancer. The study will utilize cutting edge genome sequencing technologies and aims to establish the identity of key feature of chemotherapy resistance.
The role will be based at the Ovarian Cancer Cell Laboratory (Ahmed Group) at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine. The research will involve the development and application of novel methods for the analysis of sequence data generated as part of the project. Example problems include biomarker identification and prioritisation, data integration across multiple genomic data sources and functional analysis.
The position would suit a candidate who is interested in developing a career in Translational Research. Ideally, you will have experience, gained through a PhD, the ability to perform and analyse whole genome sequencing data from minimal DNA input, a track record in developing panel testing for molecular stratification and significant experience of Unix/Linux operating environments.
You will be able to work as part of a team and independently and deliver results to the required standard and schedule and have excellent communication skills, both written and oral. An interest in developing a long-term research career at the interface between Statistics and Biology is also essential.
