Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Stem Cell Biology

Grade 7: £33,309 – £40,927 p.a. (with a discretionary range up to £44,706)

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Stem Cell Biology based at the Ahmed Group at the Weatherall Institute for Molecular Medicine.

The post holder will join a team of investigators, led by Professor Ahmed Ahmed, in a study that will model ovarian cancer through perturbing key physiological processes of fallopian tube specific stem cell regulation. The study will utilize cutting edge genome editing technology and aims to establish the key genetic features that lead to tumour initiation.

The position would suit a candidate who is interested in developing a long-term research career at the interface between statistics and biology. You will have a doctorate (or be close to completion) in a subject with a substantial cell biology component and proven experience in cloning and transfections of mammalian cells.You will have a high level of technical ability in microscopy, prior experience in genome editing usingCRISPR-Cas9 and proficiency in using organoid systems.

You will be able to work as part of a team and independently and deliver results to the required standard and schedule. You should also possess the ability to organise and prioritise your own work with minimal supervision and have excellent communication skills, both written and oral. The post will involve extensive interactions with collaborators in the Biomedical Sciences.
