Postdoctoral Research Associate in centromere integrity

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join Professor Fumiko Esashi’s research group to investigate mechanisms underlying the innate fragility of centromere DNA and their implication on chromosome inheritance in human cells.

The post-holder will be responsible for managing own academic research and administrative activities. You will assess hypotheses using a wide range of techniques in cell and molecular biology, troubleshoot or adjust experimental works when needed, and further implement advanced computational genomics approaches to tackle the problem. You will also be responsible for overseeing the daily housekeeping of the laboratory and performing any other comparable duties as may be required to ensure the efficient running of the laboratory.

The post-holder should hold, or be close to completion of, PhD/DPhil in cell and molecular biology and/or computational genomics. Successful candidates should have proven skills and experience in cell culture, imaging and next- or third-generation DNA sequence analyses. We expect strong track record in presenting their own research work in scientific communities and writing/drafting manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed international scientific journals. Excellent communication, IT and organisational skills are essential.
