Postdoctoral Research Associate investigating bacterial peptide transporters in human malodour production

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to join the membrane protein research group led by Professor Simon Newstead. We are looking for someone interested in working with our industrial partner, Unilever, to develop novel inhibitors of the bacterial peptide transporter responsible for body odour production. This post is part of an industry LINK award.

Applicants should hold a PhD/DPhil or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil in structural biology/biochemistry and have experience in the field of membrane protein biology. You should have laboratory experience in core molecular and biochemical techniques especially with protein expression and purification. Experience in using X-ray protein crystallography for ligand screening is essential as is knowledge and training in biophysical techniques for protein-ligand interactions. You should have an enthusiasm for working in a collaborative laboratory environment and a pro-active determination to drive forward an important research project.

This full-time, fixed-term post is funded through a BBSRC link award with Unilever for up to 12 months and is based at the Department of Biochemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford.

This position is graded on the University’s grade 7 scale. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
