Job Details

Postdoctoral Scientist in Precision Cellular Therapeutics (3 Posts)

Radcliffe Department of Medicine, MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, MRC Molecular Haematology Unit, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford

Grade 7: £33,309 – £40,927 p.a.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for three highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientists to join our NIHR-funded programme in Precision Cellular Therapeutics. A number of research projects are available, involving T cell receptor gene therapy for leukaemia, T cell manufacture, haematopoietic stem cell expansion and gene engineering.

Working closely with Professors Ronjon Chakraverty and Persephone Borrow, Drs James Davies and Adam Wilkinson, you will carry out research in the area of advanced cellular therapeutics. You will be responsible for developing methods for genetic manipulation and analysis of haematopoietic cells being developed for clinical use.

Applicants will hold (or be close to completion: thesis submitted at time of application) a PhD/DPhil in biosciences or a relevant field, together with sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes. Significant laboratory experience in a relevant area (one or more of Haematopoietic stem cell or immune cell culture, multiparameter flow cytometry, genome engineering, molecular biology methods and bioinformatics) is essential. Prior experience in bioinformatics (R/Python) and immunological assays are desirable.

There is the possibility to underfill at grade 6 for candidates that hold an Honours or Master’s degree in the biomedical sciences and laboratory research experience in a relevant area, with an adjustment to responsibilities.

The posts are full-time and fixed-term until 31 March 2025.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application.

The closing date for this position is 12 noon on 20 January 2022. Interviews will be held on 7 and 8 February 2022.
