Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG
Grade 7: £32,817 – £40,322 p.a.
The Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences is expanding our team of researchers, data scientists, programmers and statisticians who work with large electronic health records datasets.
This post provides the opportunity to work with and across the different primary care datasets within the Department, particularly the Clinical Practice Research Datalink – CPRD (an observational database of electronic GP health records for over 59 million patients, including 16 million currently registered patients), and the Oxford Royal College of General Practitioners Health Informatics Data Hub (ORCHID), which is an active research and surveillance unit that collects and monitors data from over 1700 practices (over 17million people) across England and Wales. The post holder will be involved in managing and analysing these data and will contribute to a wide range of research projects, but will focus on the management and outcomes of non-communicable diseases in primary care. You will also have the opportunity to undertake teaching within the University at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
This two year post provides an outstanding opportunity to undertake high impact quantitative work using electronic health data.
We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic individual with a masters degree in medical statistics, epidemiology, computer science or a related discipline. They should have demonstrable experience of working with large, complex medical datasets.
