Sackler Library, 1 St John St, Oxford, OX1 2LG
Grade 5: £26,341 – £31,406 per annum
We are looking for a customer-focused individual to join the Reader Services team in Section 3 of the Bodleian Humanities Libraries, as Reader Services Supervisor. Section 3 includes the Sackler Library, Nizami Ganjavi Library, and Taylor Institution Library. This role would primarily be based in the Sackler Library.
You will support the work of the Reader Services Manager in the running of Reader Services operations and oversight of reading rooms, working alongside the Senior Library Assistant and carrying out day-to-day supervision of the team of Library Assistants (daytime and evening/weekend). You will also work with colleagues across the other two Section 3 libraries. You will play a key part in training new staff, allocating work and updating procedures and manuals. Involvement in delivering essential services such as Inter Library Loans, inductions, and Live Chat would also be an important part of the role.
You will have extensive experience of Reader Services work, ideally in an academic library, with a strong customer service focus and enjoyment of working with library users. Additionally, you will have experience of recruitment, supervision and motivation of staff. Good IT skills are essential, and you will be an excellent communicator with the ability to take the initiative and work independently. A library qualification would be an advantage.
This is a permanent full-time role, working 36.5 hours per week. You would be required to work some evening hours during the week, in order to support colleagues in the evening and weekend team.
