Research Assistant

Grade 6: £29,176 – £32,817

We are seeking to appoint a full-time Research Assistant on a fixed term basis, with an interest in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and cardiac conditions. The post holder would be expected to help with patient recruitment and study visits for an ethically approved research study. Academic credentials that would make the assistant competitive for PhD or fellowship at the University of Oxford would be desirable. The post holder will have an opportunity to undertake clinical research in patients with inherited cardiac diseases using novel MRI technique. Expertise in other imaging modalities, i.e., echocardiography and image analysis would also be an advantage.

The opportunities and responsibilities for post holders will include: to (1) assist with recruitment to deliver the proposed research in coordination with the existing research team, (2) assist with data entry and analysis of existing Cardiac MRI data sets, (3) develop a research project based around this work in preparation for external funding. The post holder will additionally receive training in acquisition and interpretation of Cardiac MRI scans

You will be expected to have a strong academic background, motivation and ability to undertake the planned research programme. As well as this, we would also desire experience in medicine or cardiology. Expertise in other cardiac imaging modalities would be helpful.

This is a full time appointment on a fixed term contract for 1 year funded by the BHF and you will be based at the Oxford Centre for Clinical Research, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU.
