Grade 6: £29,176 – £34,804 (With discretionary range to – £38,017) per annum

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join the Gonococcal Vaccine Project to support the development of a Gonococcal Outer Membrane Vesicle Vaccine from Lead Optimization to Phase 1 Clinical Trial at the Jenner Institute.

You will support the on-going programme of vaccine development, production and characterization. The primary focus will be to perform assays to produce, scale-up and control the vaccine preparations. This includes a range of techniques in microbiology, including bacterial culture, cloning, and vaccine characterisation assays. You will gather, analyse and present scientific data from work undertaken, and participate in research programmes of preclinical vaccine development.

It is essential that you have a degree in a relevant biological sciences subject. You will be a highly organised and motivated individual with relevant training and experience in either microbiology or immunology, with a keen interest in microbiology and infectious diseases. You will be self-motivated, technically competent and capable of working independently in a laboratory. An excellent ability to interpret scientific data, analyse data and write factual reports will be required. A good working knowledge and practical experience of following SOPs and running assays in a laboratory environment will be essential in this role.
