Research Assistant in Developmental Genomics, Genetics and Cell Biology

Radcliffe Department of Medicine, MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, MRC Molecular Haematology Unit, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford

Grade 6: £29,614 – £35,326 per annum

Applications are invited for an experienced and meticulous Research Assistant to the join the Gene Regulatory Networks in Development and Disease laboratory based in the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (WIMM). The postholder will work under the direct supervision of Professor Tatjana Sauka-Spengler and collaborate closely with a group of talented postdoctoral and graduate students on deciphering how cells make cell fate decisions on a global scale.

The project addresses the epigenetic control of early multipotency and the transcriptional control of binary lineage decision in vertebrate embryos, thus shedding further light on how the cells progress from a naïve multipotent state to the cell fate lineage restriction in several cellular systems. The postholder will provide the research support for both computational and wet-lab aspects of the project and will be responsible for carrying out a range of molecular, biochemical and cell biological procedures, as well as assisting with experimental zebrafish work. The post is ideally suited for a candidate with an interest in developing a career that involves working at the interface of Developmental Biology and Genomics, with a strong background in both.

Laboratory experience in molecular biology and embryology is essential. You will be expected to have a high level of commitment to work, with excellent organizational skills.

The post is available full time and is fixed-term until 31 March 2022 and is funded by a Wellcome Trust grant.
