Project: New Mutations and Spermatogonial Stem Cell Biology

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic research assistant with good laboratory and organizational skills to join an existing research group led by Professor Anne Goriely. This post funded by an MRC-AMED grant that aims to study the origin of new mutations and the relationship that exists between human spermatogenesis, new mutations and disease through a multi-disciplinary approach.

Your role will be to undertake experimental research using a variety of molecular and stem cell biology techniques and to support the work of others in the group. It is essential that you have an interest in mutation, stem cell biology, genetics and/or reproductive biology.

You will have a first degree in Biological Sciences (i.e. Genetics, Cell and Developmental Biology, Biochemistry or a related discipline) at 2:1 or 1st class (and/or MSc course) and have relevant laboratory training. Experience of experimental and molecular biology techniques, particularly DNA/RNA extraction, PCR and DNA sequencing technologies is essential. You will possess excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and have the ability to follow protocols, learn new techniques, and apply them to the required standard. You will have good written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a successful team, able to multi-task, organise your own work and deliver results in a timely manner.

This fixed-term post is available immediately for a duration of 18 months.
