Grade 7: £32,817 – £40,322 per annum
We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Radiochemist to join the PET Radiopharmacy Oxford (PROx) Unit. You will contribute to the research operations of the PROx facility, led by Dr Graham Smith. The aim of the facility is the development of novel radiopharmaceutical processes and to support PET/SPECT imaging in the Department of Oncology and the wider University of Oxford.
One of your key responsibilities will revolve around the research and development of radiolabelled agents for PET and SPECT imaging, a particular focus will be the field of oncology imaging. The project involves the synthesis and evaluation of radiolabelled small molecules and proteins. You will be part of a wider team of chemists, radiochemists and biologists working in the field of PET imaging.
You will manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols, test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate.
You will hold (or be near to completing) a PhD in Immunology, Radiochemistry, Radiopharmacy, or equivalent science with a strong background in cancer biology or immunology, and will have demonstrable skill to organise, design and implement radiolabelled proteins. Experience of preclinical in vivo PET or SPECT imaging and preclinical in vivo experimentation, especially imaging and radionuclide therapy would be advantageous. This is a full-time post, offered for 2 years in the first instance.
