The Oxford University Big Data Institute (BDI) is an interdisciplinary research centre aiming to develop, evaluate and deploy efficient methods for acquiring and analysing biomedical data at scale and for exploiting the opportunities arising from such studies. Oxford Population Health (Nuffield Department of Population Health), a key partner in the BDI, contains world-renowned population health research groups and is an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary teaching and research.

As a Researcher in Health Data Science you will develop methods to analyse complex time-series datasets to investigate if wearable electrocardiogram (ECG) sensors can improve the prediction of, and discovery of novel mechanisms for cardiovascular disease. Your key responsibilities will include developing research questions and analyses, writing original research articles for peer-reviewed journals, presenting research at national and international conferences and raising research funds through grant applications and managing own area of a larger research budget.

To be considered, you will hold a DPhil/PhD in biomedical signal processing, machine learning, health data science, bioinformatics, or a closely related field and have experience in common biomedical signal processing and machine learning methods, and of the programming approaches needed to implement these methods. You will also have a strong publication record (including code) and the ability to independently manage a research project.
