Scientific Writer and Facilitator

Grade 8: £42,149 – £50,296 with a discretionary range to £54,943 per annum
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Scientific Writer and Facilitator, with proven writing skills to become a key member of our support team at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research.
You will be responsible for managing the scientific output of the Ludwig Cancer Research Oxford Branch, and will liaise with our leadership team on scientific strategy. Working closely with the Branch Director, Principal Investigators, research staff and graduate students (approximately 120 staff in 13 research groups), you will become familiar with research being undertaken in the Institute, the strategic directions of the Branch and matters of research policy and practice. Using your extensive background in science writing, you will support grant applications and advise and assist in the preparation of manuscripts, scientific reports and any other documentation required.
It is essential that you hold a doctorate in life sciences and have an understanding of biology and knowledge of the molecular basis of cancer. You will have substantial and sustained experience of research-focused scientific writing and editing, with an in-depth understanding of scientific publication processes, and have the ability to tailor writing and communications to different audiences or contexts. You will have previous experience of successfully managing small to medium projects, and be able to to prioritise a heavy workload and keep track of multiple on-going projects. It is essential that you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact equally effectively with senior academic staff, researchers and support staff within the University and the Ludwig Institute. You will be proactive and organised, with excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills.
