Senior Bioinformatician

Grade 8: £41,526 – £49,553 per annum (with a discretionary range to £54,131 per annum)

Applications are invited for a Senior Bioinformatician to join the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Bioinformatician to join a leading centre for genomic techniques and the development of cutting-edge technologies.

As a Senior Bioinformatician, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining pipelines for a diverse range of projects, where you will lead on the design and implementation. You will anticipate and respond to new developments in the fast-moving genomic field to design appropriate pipelines and provide results in a timely manner.

You will hold an MSc or higher degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or another quantitative discipline. You will have experience handling and analysing next generation sequencing data, as well as high-level programming skills in adherence to best coding practices. You will have demonstrable experience of pipeline development for biological applications, and will have worked in a Linux/UNIX environment. It is also essential that you have excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage with a variety of audiences.

The position is funded by the Wellcome and is a fixed-term contract for 12 months, in the first instance.
