Nuffield Department of Population Health, Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford OX3 7LF

Grade 8: £41,526 – £49,553 p.a.

The Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) contains world-renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. Based within the Nuffield Department of Population Health, the Cancer Epidemiology Unit (CEU) seeks to provide large-scale reliable evidence on the relationships between common exposures and common conditions of public health importance such as prostate, breast, and colorectal cancers, cardiovascular disease and bone health.

We are seeking a Senior Cancer Epidemiologist to develop a research programme as part of the wider programme of research into risk factors for cancer in the Million Women Study cohort and provide supervision to research assistants and graduate students. You will conduct individual research, analyse detailed and complex quantitative data, and generate original ideas by building on existing concepts. You will also develop your own research ideas, write high-profile scientific publications and present your work at scientific and other meetings.

To be considered, you will have a relevant PhD with post-qualification research experience working on observational epidemiological data. You will have a strong publication record, sufficient specialist knowledge in cancer epidemiology, sufficient knowledge of statistical methodologies to conduct analyses of complex epidemiological data and ability to plan and manage a research project.

The position is full time (part time considered) and fixed term for two years. The closing date for applications is noon on Thursday 4th March 2021.
