We seek to appoint a Senior Project Manager to support an ambitious and cutting edge vaccine development program against gonorrhoea, at the Centre for Clinical Vaccinology and Tropical Medicine (CCVTM). This is an exciting opportunity for a project manager to cover vaccine development work from preclinical, through to GMP production and a Phase 1 clinical trial.

Your main responsibility will be supporting the preclinical and clinical development programme of the vaccine and will include a variety of activities including liaison with funders, with the scientists, and preparing for and managing a clinical trial. This will be a key role within the group to ensure successful completion of our research programme. You will be responsible for the strategic management of the project to meet project goals, ensuring all work package activities within the grant are properly co-ordinated and that all deliverables and milestones are met in a timely manner and within budget, being responsible for project and resource planning, identifying shortfalls and issues, and provide feasible solutions to existing problems based on your own experience. You will effectively analyse and interpret large amounts of research data, accurately identify relationships between interdependent factors; and line manage or supervise one or more multidisciplinary teams.

You will be educated to degree level with an excellent track record of managing and delivering successfully scientific research projects. You will have an ability to demonstrate leadership of large and complex projects, for example, with multiple stakeholders, budgets exceeding £1m, long timeframes, and regulatory complexity, and have knowledge of clinical trials management and associated legal requirements. You will be highly organised with the ability to manage a vast amount of relatively complex information and to prioritise a demanding workload with competing deadlines and have an ability to communicate effectively to a high standard. It is important to have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work efficiently in multidisciplinary teams and with a wide variety of people internationally. Advanced computer skills are required, particularly with Microsoft Office and Project Management software.
