Senior Research Fellow in Public Policy

The Senior Research Fellow in Public Policy will help lead the School’s mission to improve government across the world through research, education, and engagement of the highest quality.

The successful candidate will be a scholar of international distinction with an exceptional track record of research and teaching on government at national or international level that will fit with the School’s commitment to practical education and research.

The ideal candidate will bring political science / political economy expertise with a deep understanding of policy (making) in China. The School is looking for someone who not only understands the Chinese policy context, but who is capable of applying intellectual lessons learned from the Chinese experience to other countries.

The post-holder will be expected to play a leading role in developing the School’s research profile and teaching portfolio. She or he will be an inspirational teacher who will make a significant contribution to the planning and delivery of the School’s innovative academic and executive education programmes, with a demonstrable commitment to improving government through the highest quality of professional teaching and education. The post-holder will be an active publisher with an excellent research profile, who is keen to play a leading role in the School’s research agenda.

The ideal candidate will be a scholar of authority on public policy with a considerable international reputation; hold a doctorate in a relevant discipline; s/he will have a depth of knowledge on public policy to enable the development of innovation and new understanding in the field; have significant experience of developing research strategies and managing research projects; have an outstanding and international publication record; and demonstrate an established record of public engagement with governments and international or non-governmental organisations.

NB: this post is eligible for the Professor title. The University may award the title at the time of appointment for candidates with established academic standing at an appropriate level of distinction.
